Niki King Time
Niki King has one of the great soul and jazz voices in today’s scene and in a rare live outing she brings a beautiful new show exclusively to the Aberdeen Jazz Festival for a one-off intimate live performance, ahead of the forthcoming studio production for her much anticipated new album.
The singer-songwriter has a new body of work, written entirely last year in lockdown, that carries the listener on a journey of reflection within a deep fusion of soul, jazz and blues, straight from the heart, like a heady mix of Etta James meets Michael Kiwanuka.
“The outstanding Scottish female vocalist of our time” (The List) has got some of the best fusion musicians in the country in tow: Stevie Christie (piano/keys), Aki Remally (guitar/voice), Paul Gilbody (bass/voice) and Stuart Brown (drums).
Niki has garnered numerous five-star reviews for her live shows and performed in many of the leading jazz clubs around the world including The Blue Note (New York and Tokyo), The Jazz Café and Ronnie Scott’s, London. Highlight performances include opening as special guest for The Average White Band, Al Green and Gregory Porter. Now she can add Aberdeen Jazz Festival to that list.
A great way to close out ten days celebrating all that’s great in live Jazz.
